CATALINA ISLAND

Last week Jeff took a day off of work and we took a boat over to Catalina Island for the day.  The boat left Newport Beach at 9 am and we had to be there an hour early to check in so we were up and on the road at 6:30.

The kids on the boat ready to go......

Rena had a great time on the boat -- until it started moving!  She was not happy with the wind on the deck or the rocking anywhere on the boat.  We found some seats indoors to try and make it more bearable.........

By the time we could see the Island (about an hour into the ride) Rena decided the boat might be o.k.......

Luckily by the time we reached the Island the sun was out and it was beautiful!  We rented a golf cart to do some touring.  Rena and Maleah started off in the back......

About 2 minutes into our drive Rena decided she didn't like this form of transportation either.......(in her defense it did seem like it was going really fast when you were in the very back seat riding backwards).  Sooooo, Rena moved to the front and Cameron moved to the back......

Everyone is happy again -- at least for a minute.......

Our first scenic stop......

Time to switch seats again -- my turn in the back with Cam.......

Another scenic stop.......

My turn to drive!  Rena did not like that I was trying to be in this picture instead of having my eyes on the road -- and we hadn't even started moving yet!.......

Oh, so pretty!.......

Another switch -- doesn't Maleah look cute with her missing tooth?!!  She just lost it 2 days before we left and was very happy and proud when it came out.....  Oh, Jeff looks kinda cute too!  :)

Yeah -- she's having fun on the golf cart!  :) .........

After the golf cart, lunch and some walking around we decided to play a round of mini-golf.

Maleah needed a little bit of help starting off.  She then spent most of the time just pushing her ball around with her club until it went in.  Funny, though, she was the first one to get a hole-in-one -- and it was a true hole-in-one (Jeff was the only other one to get one a few holes later)......

Rena did not need or want help!! She knew exactly what to do (according to Rena!)......

Rena was our score keeper and took it very seriously.  AND guess who our winner was?  Yup, Rena won it all!  :) .....

Cameron was very serious on the last hole......

After mini-golf we headed back down to the water to look around and enjoy the sites......

We found a candy shop and Maleah picked out this huge sucker!  Cameron had cotton candy and Rena and I had chocolate covered strawberries so our treats didn't last nearly as long as Maleah's did!

Back at the dock waiting for the boat......

The boat - before we ever got on Rena was concerned about how the boat stays on top of the water with that hole right in the middle -- maybe that's why she didn't like the ride over.......

Ready to go.......

On the move.....

Almost back to Newport and Rena has finally moved outside and actually likes it!......
