ROLLER SKATING

A couple of weeks ago our church hosted a roller skating night out.  The girls were all for it -- Cameron was not too excited when we were on our way there, but he ended up having a great time -- (I think he might have even ended up liking it the most.)

All laced up and ready to roll.......

Rena just took off right when she got out there.  She was moving pretty fast and having a good time......

Maleah wasn't quite as willing to just go for it as Rena was.  She stuck pretty close to the side and didn't want me to leave her.  She sped up a little bit before the night was over and was having fun, but she was NOT going to win any races!

Cameron didn't have any problems.  He got right out there and had fun -- he waved to me every time he lapped Maleah and I!

Skate time is over -- time to go home!.......

A fun evening!

NEW EARS

After a lot of convincing (and a few beers) Jeff finally agreed that the girls could get their ears pierced!  They have been working on him for a couple of years now so when he finally said "YES" you can imagine the excitement.  They wanted to do it right then (but it was about 10pm in Hawaii when he actually said it) so they had to wait until we got back home from vacation.

Here they are on July 5th.

Maleah went first --
a couple of before pictures........

AND a couple of after pictures......

For Maleah's they had two people do hers so that they could do both ears at the same time, but with Rena's the gal wanted to do them one at a time because she has a little skin tag on the back of one ear and she wanted to make sure she didn't need to adjust the placement of the second one after the first one was done.  I was so worried that Rena was going to get one ear done and not got through with the second one, but all went well and she left with both ears pierced!

Here are her before shots......

And after.......

Tomorrow will be exactly 5 weeks since they had them pierced -- just one more week before they can take them out and change them.  I will be so happy when I stop hearing "can we change them today?"  :)

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

We got home from Hawaii on July 3rd and threw together a quick July 4th party with the neighbors and The McCullough's (the local ones!).  Here's Cameron, Max, Grace, Benjamin, Jacinda, Rena, Maleah and Gabby.  (Greyson and Decklan arrived later.)

Fun in the pool.........

Jason and Jeff relaxing in the hot tub.......

Dad and Bonnie were here visiting also.......

Cameron and Max taking a break from swimming for some snacks......

A basketball game with all of the kids.........

After it got dark we headed over to Hale and Jason's house to watch some fireworks.  They can see the fireworks from the Aviara Resort and from LEGOLAND from their backyard.  All of the kids watched from the balcony.

MAUI 2013 - DAY 10

Day 10 sure seemed like it came really fast!  Our flight didn't leave Maui until 11:50pm so we had the whole day to enjoy.  We spent it pretty much like our other days -- at the beach, in the ocean and in the pool!

After we were cleaned up, we headed down to the restaurant that was in our hotel (Duke's Beach House) to get one final piece of "hula pie".  We discovered the Hula Pie one night while we were out to dinner.  I had a coupon for a free slice and had no idea what it was when I ordered it.  I also did not know that everyone was going to go crazy for it!  So, we had a couple of slices throughout our stay and had to have just 1 more before heading home.  Since all we wanted was the pie we got it to go (along with 5 forks) and found ourselves a nice table and chairs out by the pool to enjoy our treat!.

Ready to dig in.......

Rena finished it up.....

This is what Hula Pie looks like before we get our hands on it (made with macadamia nut ice cream piled high on a chocolate cookie crust and topped with chocolate fudge, whipped cream, and more macadamia nuts.).........

This is what it looks like about 30 seconds after The Keyes Kids dig in........

After the hula pie the kids did some playing around.......

We went back to our room to hang out just awhile longer.......

.....and.......our last picture in Maui -- we are all so sad that we have to leave.......

It was a GREAT vacation!!

MAUI 2013 - DAY 9

Oooohhhhhh, how I love these lazy mornings!

When we first checked into our hotel we were in a first floor room that didn't have a view of anything.  It had a nice little garden, but also opened up onto a tarp announcing more construction on the other side.  I called the front desk and asked about upgrading and they were nice enough to comp us an upgrade.  We got this room that had an extra little area with an extra pull out bed and it had this beautiful view.......

After having a lazy morning we got up and headed to The Maui Ocean Center - The Hawaiian Aquarium.  It was a really great aquarium and so fun to see all of the fish that live in the ocean off the Hawaiian islands -- if only we could see them while we were out snorkeling!  The kids all had cameras -- Cameron had mine, Rena had Jeff's and Maleah had her own so we have about 200 pictures of fish (if you want to see them!)

On our way back we stopped at one of the scenic pictures spots.  We were pretty lucky that we stopped when we did because we got to see a whole bunch of spinner dolphins out in the ocean.  Apparently they aren't around very often and they were really cool to see.

Time for a Luau!  We were actually scheduled to go to a luau at The Westin the night before, but it got cancelled due to an accident on the highway.  We were lucky to get another one booked on such short notice.  We went to The Drums of the Pacific at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.  It was the same one we went to last time, but I think everyone still really enjoyed it (especially Maleah since she slept through it last time we were there!)

New Hawaiian dresses for the luau!.....

......and a new t-shirt......

Waiting for the luau to start......and for the food!......

Hula dancing - That's Rena and Maleah right up front and I am behind Rena......

Some of the show.......

The end of the show was the best with the fire dancers......

After the show the kids had their picture taken with some of the dancers.......

Cameron only wanted his taken with the fire dancer.......

Here we are before the show (it's the professional pic that they take and sell -- yes, I bought it!) :) ........
