A GREAT WEEKEND

WOW -- we had a GREAT holiday weekend. It was busy, but so much fun!!!

We started the weekend off on Saturday by heading to Downtown San Diego to go to the Padres baseball game. We were loaded with snacks, kids were excited and we were downtown before we realized that I had the wrong time for the game that day -- we arrived at Petco field at 1:15 for a 5:35 game......oops!! So, instead of a baseball game on Saturday we went and toured the USS Midway Museum. It is the "longest serving Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th century" and just happens to be right in San Diego about 5 minutes from Petco field......

On the ground next to the ship.....

After our little adventure downtown we went back home and met up with our neighbors for outdoor movie night in their backyard featuring Nemo.....

The kids love it when we do this. We set up the tents for them, they all put on their pj's, climb in to their sleeping bags, eat popcorn and watch the movie. Everyone lasted through the whole movie except Maleah.....Jeff had to carry her home when the movie ended......

On Sunday, after we went to church and did a little bit of shopping, we headed up to the community pool. We were expecting it to be busy with the nice weather and holiday weekend, but NOPE....there was us (with the kids friends from next door) and about 10 other people. It was nice!

After swimming we headed over to another neighbors house for a barbeque.

WHEW -- a busy weekend with an extra day of fun --

Monday started out with Jeff & Cameron on a bike ride. The girls and I drove them up to "Double Peak Park" in San Marcos. It is the highest point in the City of San Marcos at 1,644 feet and has gorgeous views of the surrounding areas and the Pacific Ocean. Jeff & Cameron hopped on their bikes and made their way back down to Carlsbad. It was a long, but fun ride for both of them.....

After the bike ride it was off to another neighbors house for another barbeque. These neighbors live directly across the street from us, just moved in about a week ago and have a daughter that is 4 days older than Rena. As you can see they also have a pool that was a big hit!

Jeff didn't really want to take the picture of us -- he wanted to be in it with us.....

The girls enjoying the hot tub (and some drinks) -- Wendy, Chelsea, Mary, Marisa and me.....

It was such a great weekend -- I can't wait until the kids are on summer break so that we don't have to wait for the weekends to do all of this fun stuff -- over and over and over again!!

SWIM LESSONS

The kids have been taking some swim lessons over at The YMCA and have had a great time and are ready for some long fun days up at our community pool this summer!

Maleah is learning to swim without her life jacket. Big girl.....

Rena and Cameron were in the same class this time. Cameron didn't think he needed lessons because he already knows how to swim, but he has, of course, learned some strokes and had a good time.....

Big breath.....

AGAIN

EVERY spring/summer (no matter where we are) I somehow end up shoveling yards and yards and yards of beauty bark or rock in our yard. Washington was always bark, Illinois was rock and now we are back to bark in California. We arrived home from dropping Cameron off at school last Friday morning and this is what was in our driveway......

The girls thought it was fun!

We spent a few hours spreading, took a break and then luckily by Friday night our neighbors were over helping out. Jeff finished it up on Saturday morning (without me) so when I say "I" shoveled yards and yards and yards I might have been exaggerating a little bit! :) I really did help, tho!

MOTHER'S DAY

I LOVE presents that the kids make!! Here's what I got for Mother's Day --

Cameron and a flowerpot bug candy holder, special card & decorated bag.....

Rena and a card and "cookbook" (the cookbook is actually recipes from kindergartens on how they think their mom makes their favorite meal).....

Maleah and the back side of her place mat that she made for me for the Mother's Tea.....

AND another (non-homemade) present -- since I live in flip-flops.....

OUR OWN POOL

OK, NOT REALLY.....but we were the only ones at the community pool and we were dreaming!

It was a beautiful day today so after another full Saturday of soccer games (9am, 12pm, 3pm & picture day for everyone) we headed to the pool and we were the only ones there! A few people came and went while we were there, but for the most part it was just us.....our own pool!

We also used the community barbeque and had a nice dinner.....

MOTHER'S DAY TEA

On Friday afternoon Maleah's preschool class had a Mother's Day Tea to celebrate Mother's Day. They made invitations last week and spent the week getting ready -- Maleah was soooooooo excited! She talked about it all week and on Friday morning the first thing that she said was "Tea Day!" When I got to the school Maleah led me to my chair where there was a special place mat that she made (that she wouldn't let me use because she didn't want it to get dirty), then the class sang some "I love Mommy" songs and then we ended the party with snacks and tea! It was a fun day for both Maleah & I!
